Aloe Vera: The Little Plant With Big Nutrients

Aloe Vera has long been known to be a useful plant in treating a variety of conditions, injuries, and illnesses. These benefits are derived from eleven groups of nutrients that make up Aloe Vera.

These eleven components are:

  • Hormones
  • Enzymes
  • Minerals
  • Lignin
  • Anthraquinones
  • Salicylic Acid
  • Sugars
  • Vitamins
  • Sterols
  • Amino Acids
  • Saponins

However, for the purpose of this article we are going to dig deeper, specifically, into what vitamins pure Aloe Vera contains and each of these vitamins affects and benefits to the health of your body.

Aloe Vera Vitamins

The Aloe Vera plant contains five B vitamins and Choline, which scientists have recently declared a “B” class vitamin.

B1- Thiamin

Thiamin is a water-soluble B vitamin found within the Aloe Vera plant. Like most other B vitamins, B1 works on a number of systems. As far as the body’s digestive tract, those who suffer from chronic diarrhea and ulcerative colitis benefit greatly from Thiamin. Its nutrients can also help folks who suffer from diabetic pain, diseases of the heart, canker sores and has been shown to prevent Cervical Cancer. B1 is a good source in the prevention of kidney diseases and motion sickness. Thiamin has also been shown to slow the progress of ocular diseases such as Glaucoma and Cataracts, as well as the aging process.
B1 is necessary for the break down and utilization of carbohydrates and proteins in the body for energy. This is your metabolism and Thiamin keeps it in check, while boosting your immune system. This vitamin is also a good source of keeping your mental health stable. It has been determined that B1 increases learning ability and prevents memory loss (i.e. Alzheimer’s or Wernicke’s encephalopathy Syndrome) while increasing the positivity of one’s disposition or mood.
B1 is found in Aloe Vera and is a great reason Aloe Vera should be used internally on occasion rather than always in the traditional topical sense.

B2- Riboflavin

B2 is also known as Riboflavin. This vitamin is essential to the normal growth of our bodies, the body’s manufacture of red blood cells and to assist in the breakdown of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. B2 is also necessary for the proper function of the skin and the intestinal lining. However, it is also used to prevent a number of health conditions such as: Muscle cramps, Carpel Tunnel Syndrome, Migraines, Cervical Cancer, Glaucoma and Cataracts. Even with this already impressive list of benefits, B2 is not only an obvious immune system booster but also can provide you with extra energy. Keeping hair, mucous membranes, skin and nails healthy, B2 slows the aging process and provides reproductive health benefits,
This water soluble B vitamin typically works with other vitamins to do its job and all of those vitamins are also contained within the Aloe Vera plant!

Aloe Vera Vitamins

B3-Niacin

Niacin is another name for Vitamin B3, and is paramount to the body, not only just for general health but also for its ability to decrease cardiovascular risks and lower cholesterol. Niacin studies have proven it’s effective in reducing the hardening of the arteries (atherosclerosis.) Hardening of the body’s arteries can result in heart attacks or stroke. Many people who have already had a heart attack take Niacin to protect them from any future damage.
Studies on B3’s effect on the body are ongoing and intense. Although definitive results are currently inconclusive, there has been some evidence that there are additional benefits to Niacin. These benefits include a decreased risk of Cataracts, Alzheimer’s, Type I Diabetes Mellitus and Osteoarthritis. Either proven or not, Niacin is still necessary for the body’s proper function.

B9- Folic Acid

Folic Acid, otherwise called B9, is a water soluble vitamin found in pure Aloe along with these other B vitamins. Again with so many benefits B9 is yet another wonderful nutrient found in the Aloe Vera plant. One benefit of Folic Acid is its ability to assist in proper cell growth while another is maintaining a healthy metabolism.
You may have heard of the term “folate.” Folate is the natural version of B9 found in foods and plants, such as Aloe Vera. Tablets of Folic Acid are made of a synthetic, man-made material. If all natural is what you are looking for, getting B9 from Aloe is your best option.

B9 has become an absolute necessity for women who are trying to get pregnant and for those who are. Doses of B9 during pregnancy has been shown to decrease the risk of both early labor and preeclampsia. It has also been proven to prevent brain and spinal birth defects in fetuses by as much as seventy percent.
B9 has other unique functions. When taken in conjunction with B12 (also contained in the Aloe Vera plant) it can be useful in treating anemia. Many people who suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriasis and countless neurological disorders take a drug called Methotrexate. Those who are on this drug in high doses or for long periods, run the risk of it becoming toxic to their bodies. Adding Folic Acid can actually reduce toxicity and is yet another great reason to add Aloe Vera to your life!

Aloe Vera Vitamins

B12- Cobalamins

Vitamin B12 also goes by Cobalamins, an extremely complex vitamin compound. In fact, it is the most complex vitamin your body needs. B12 is essential to the operation of the human body in a number of ways; neurological health, red blood cell production the synthesis of both RNA, DNA, and many pathways for enzymes. Vitamin B12 is also essential in the body’s ability to break down proteins and fats.
As far as neurological health is concerned, low levels of B12 have been known to cause disruptions and events such as: tingling or numbness in the extremities, nerve damage that causes decreased mobility, poor memory, and confusion. In severe cases of untreated defeincency for a long period of time, can cause symptoms of: Paranoia, Delirium, Dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Multiple enzymatic reactions that take place within the body need B12 to be completed. Of these enzymatic reactions, DNA and RNA necessitate certain levels of B12 in order to synthesize. Without enough B12, your DNA is not going to be able to change as it should and could possibly be damaged. This can increase your chances for developing Cancer. Lack of B12 in the case of RNA function can cause enzyme production to plummet and the functions of cells to be poor. Lack of some of these enzymes also halts the process of the body’s metabolism of both fats and proteins.
It has recently been determined that the Aloe Vera plant only contains trace amounts of B12, however, research has shown if ingesting a B12 supplement in conjunction with pure Aloe, the body is apt to absorb more B12 than it would without the Aloe.

Aloe Vera Vitamins

Choline-

Choline was very recently placed in the class of “B” vitamins. Water soluble, Choline is very beneficial to your health. Choline is such a powerful and necessary nutrient that scientists, researchers and medical practitioners are all in agreement that it is an essential nutrient.
There are so many benefits to having Choline in your body, beginning with its positive effect on the function of our memory, and in turn helps us to learn more quickly.
Research on any vitamin, supplement, or medication is always going to be ongoing but Choline has already been seen to either prevent or cure certain common illnesses and diseases.

Some of these include: Dementia, Anxiety, Huntington’s Chorea, Asthma, High Cholesterol, Depression, Tourette’s Syndrome, Cardiovascular Disease, certain types of Cancers, Hepatitis and Cirrhosis of the liver, as well as many others.
Choline is also highly recommended for breastfeeding and pregnant women as choline has been shown to decrease the chance of defects in a baby’s Neural tube and increase the rate at which an infant will learn.
Choline is also a great energizer. Many body builders and athletes consume Choline to ward off fatigue during games, competitions, and workouts.
The human body produces a very small amount of Choline naturally, but as previously mentioned, it is an essential nutrient so you need to supply your body with a proper amount. Aloe Vera can help you do that since it contains Choline as one of its amazing healing ingredients.

Vitamin A- Retinol

All of the B vitamins are water soluble. This means that they will dissolve in water. However, Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin. This means that it will dissolve in lipids, also known as fats, rather than water. Vitamin A has many purposes such as; maintaining ocular health, preventing Coronary Heart Disease, as well as benefitting the health of the skin and mucous membranes.
Vitamin A works with the retina (back part of your eye) to help you to adjust to differing intensities of light, assists in the hydration of the skin and mucous membrane.

Part of the reason it is so good for the skin is because of its ability to neutralize free radical particles in the body, preventing them from causing damage to healthy cells and tissue. This in itself can also decrease your risk for developing Alzheimer’s.
Beta-Carotene is also a component of Vitamin A. Although the official verdict is still out, studies have shown that the Beta-Carotene derived from Vitamin A has a positive effect on those with Coronary Heart Disease and possibly other cardiovascular diseases.
Aloe Vera contains levels of Vitamin A that are beneficial to the body for all of these reasons and more.

Vitamin C- Ascorbic Acid

Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin found in the Aloe Vera plant. Since water soluble vitamins dissolve in water, in the blood stream, they are excreted through the kidneys and the process of urination. As with all water-soluble vitamins, you must keep a steady amount in your system.
Vitamin C has a lot of beneficial health properties to it. A common known fact is that Vitamin C boosts your immune system, however, most people do not know that smokers need more Vitamin C than non-smokers. This is because smoking uses up Vitamin C. Vitamin C has also been shown in research to delay aging. Not only that, but it is another anti-oxidant that can take care of free radicals in the body, just like Vitamin A.

Being deficient in Vitamin C can cause symptoms such as: muscle weakness, swollen gums, frequent nose bleeds, fatigue and in rare cases, a disease called Scurvy. Anemia can also be caused by a deficiency in Vitamin C, as it is necessary in assisting your body’s absorption of Iron.
However, Vitamin C in your diet and your body, should keep you oral health intact, allow your body to feel more energized and your immune system working to ward off illnesses properly. Aloe Vera is an excellent source of Vitamin C; helping with anemia and fighting off free radicals, this vitamin is yet another testament of the benefits of Pure Aloe.

Aloe Vera Vitamins

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an incredibly important fat-soluble vitamin for the human body. Naturally produced in the skin, Vitamin E deficiency is rare but can occur. The symptoms are irritability and Anemia.
This particular vitamin is one of the most powerful anti-oxidants on the planet. It helps to prevent tissue damage by neutralizing free radicals. Vitamin E has also been linked to healthy skin, faster wound healing, proper blood clotting, and aids the body in maintaining a properly functioning and healthy circulatory system.

New research is beginning to find that Vitamin E can help with the prevention of diseases of the breasts, as well as symptoms of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS.) Research has fairly recently found that people whom are at high risk for Coronary Heart Disease could have their risk decreased dramatically, simply by taking large doses of Vitamin E.
“Nature’s Multivitamin,” the Aloe Vera Plant is 99% water, the 1% left over is packed with so many nutrients to nourish your body. Containing essential vitamins, minerals, sugars and other beneficial compounds, Aloe Vera is a natural way to get all the supplements you need.
