Aloe Vera Plants

The Aloe Vera Plant has remained highly popular over the years mainly for its powerful usage in different spheres of life such as in medicine and in the cosmetic industry. Growing an Aloe Vera plant is quite easy for it doesn’t require a lot of maintenance such as regular watering or spraying it with pesticides. This is because the plants are both drought and pest resistant. One can therefore grow an Aloe Vera plant in their garden or can even kept as potted plants inside your home. We would never recommend using pesticides as they can penetrate the skin of the plant and taint the inner gel with nasty chemicals which defeats the purpose of using this magical natural healing plant as a healthy alternative to heal the body.

The soil to be used should be porous. Also the correct size of  potting vessel to use should be one which is spacious enough for the plant as it tends to grow rapidly and shoot several other branches off to the side. It also shouldn’t be watered too regularly for it doesn’t require a lot of water to grow. Lastly, it has to be grown in an environment that has high temperatures. If interested in growing a potted Aloe Vera plant, one should purchase a big one but if you intend on planting it outside, then it’s better to go for a smaller sized plant.

How to fillet the Aloe Vera Leaf

Cultivating the inner gel from an Aloe Vera plant is not that hard. Actually, all that is required is for one to fillet the inner Aloe leaf. This is done by first choosing the healthiest of leaves and cutting it close to the angle of the plant’s stem. The best leaves in this case are the ones growing near the ground. One should then allow the sap to drain by placing the leaf on a container in a tilted position. Then, by placing the leaf on a cutting board, carefully cut both sides of the leaf’s rough edges using a knife and then slice it from the inside in order to remove either the front and back cover. One can then use a spoon or a butter knife to scoop out the inner gel, making sure to take care that only the inner gel is used for making Aloe Vera juice as the sap contains the aloin compound of the plant which is a natural laxative and can upset the stomach if ingested.

Making your own Aloe Vera Juice

It’s extremely easy to make Aloe Vera juice by taking the inner gel and putting it in a blender. The preferred juices to use include the citrus juices such as grape or orange fruits. Then, blend the fruits with the gel till it produces a very smooth appearance. After that, pour the Aloe Vera juice into a glass and enjoy the delicacy. The juice has anti-bacterial benefits hence very good for it helps in detoxifying the blood stream as well as fighting ulcer or stomach related problems. In this regard, the best Aloe plant to use to make the juice is the Aloe Vera barbadensis miller.

Making your own Aloe Vera Gel for topical use

To make the Aloe Vera gel, one should put the inner gel into a blender and mixing it with a few drops of Vitamin E or citric acid powder. After blending them together, the gel should be stored in a dark plastic container that is able to keep away light.

Aloe Vera plants have been tested medically and have been proved to be great especially when treating itchy skin, burns, scratches, bites, burns and sunburns. As discussed above, Aloe Vera further can be consumed in order to treat a wide variety of internal digestive problems.
